This is the 537th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

French Fried

Amale Dib was the first French born female wrestler to be signed to a WWE contract back in 2020. Amale competed under the NXT UK brand until her release from the company in 2022. Since her WWE release, Amale has competed all throughout Europe for various independent groups. In the Summer of 2024, Amale came out and accused her former boyfriend and fellow wrestler Tristan Archer of “physical, psychological and emotional abuse.”

Amale claims that Archer cheated on her multiple times, made racist remarks towards her Moroccan heritage, threatened her, her family and her friends with physical harm. She also stated that Archer used his influence on the European wrestling scene to get Amale blackballed from several events. Amale wanted to come forward earlier, but feared physical retaliation from Archer and kept quiet. The psychological stranglehold Tristan Archer allegedly had on her, caused her to suffer an eating disorder in which she lost close to 100 pounds at various points in their relationship.

She stated that Archer threatened to leak intimate photos of her, if she didn’t abide by his demands. The abuse began to take a toll on her mentally and she became suicidal. Amale claims that Archer was unsympathetic to her mental decline and ordered her to do certain things before she killed herself and then once completed…”could die in peace.” Archer would accuse Amale of being a cocaine addict, who was delusional and bitter. After the allegations were made against Tristan Archer, it was revealed that both Archer and Amale were suspended by various European wrestling promotions. On the surface, it appears that many of these groups would prefer to distance themselves from the entire situation altogether.

Party Crash and Burn

Michael ‘P.S.’ Hayes of the Freebirds recalled being brought into to the Mid Atlantic territory back in 1984. Hayes said after competing in a Texas Stadium show for World Class Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Jr. flew the Freebirds to wrestle a match in Raleigh, North Carolina. After that show, Hayes said the Freebirds were invited to Crockett’s bachelor party which was being held in a penthouse suite in a nearby hotel.

Hayes said that Buddy Jack Roberts got drunk and started picking a fight with Harley Race. Race responded by slapping Roberts across the face, which led to Roberts spitting in Race’s face. Ric Flair, who was the best man for Crockett’s wedding approached Hayes and yelled at him to get Buddy Roberts under control. Hayes who was also admittedly drunk agreed and shook Flair’s hand. Hayes said he then pulled Flair close to him and headbutted the Nature Boy and responded by saying….””That’s the way we Freebirds do things!”

Wahoo McDaniel and Harley Race approached the Freebirds to fight them in that hotel suite, but Michael Hayes said the Freebirds may be wild, but aren’t idiots to fight the entire NWA locker room, let alone Wahoo and Harley. Apparently Crockett called the police and Hayes said over 40 cops showed up to the suite and escorted the Freebirds out in one piece. The Freebirds would not return to Jim Crockett’s territory until 1987 after Crockett purchased the UWF from Bill Watts.

American Males and German Females

Scotty Riggs recalled how ‘The American Males’ were over big in Germany with female fans. So much so, both he and Marcus Bagwell had their pick of women to take back to their hotel during WCW’s tour there. Riggs and Bagwell had so many women, that many of the bigger stars of the company like Lex Luger, Sting and others wanted to hang out with the tag team while overseas. Whatever women the American Males did not choose, ended up going to the veteran wrestlers.

Riggs said that two of the women they had on the Germany tour became stalkers that followed Riggs and Bagwell back to the States. The two female fans showed up to a few Monday Nitro shows uninvited and demanded backstage access which Riggs said they were denied. Riggs said that while they were both beautiful women in Germany, they were nothing compared to the women they could “obtain” in America and were tossed aside after the German tour.

A Streetcar Named Conspire

In April of 1915, a professional wrestler named Knud Madsen was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny in the second degree. Madsen, who broke his collarbone during a wrestling match, attempted to blame his injury on the St. Paul, Minnesota Railway System. Madsen claimed that he slipped on a banana peel while riding on a streetcar. Knud Madsen collected $350 from his claim.

After an investigation into the incident, it was revealed that Madsen had already claimed the injury was due to falling down on a broken sidewalk in February of that year and collected money on that claim as well. Madsen was arrested before a wrestling match against Al Francis. Madsen was held on $1,500 bail and was eventually found guilty and sent to jail for an “undetermined amount of time.”
