This is the 312th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.
Buff Bag-Not So-Well

In August of 2020, former WCW star Marcus ‘Buff’ Bagwell was driving his SUV in suburban Georgia, when he was involved in a crash which resulted in several serious injuries. According to police, Bagwell lost control of his vehicle after trying to negotiate a curve in the road. His SUV hit the center median, a metal fence and then went in to the eastbound lanes of traffic before smashing into a curb and then hitting a free standing bathroom of a bus station.
Bagwell was in ICU and suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, a broken right hip, a broken left socket bone, a broken nose and a torn right groin muscle. Bagwell was eventually taken out of ICU and was not going to require any surgeries. Investigators on the scene say that Bagwell was driving impaired from using prescription medication. It should be noted that a family friend denied the report and said that Buff was not on medication at the time of the accident.
This wasn’t the first serious car accident Bagwell has been involved in. In April of 2012, Bagwell says he suffered a seizure while driving and crashed his vehicle. He was airlifted to a hospital where he suffered broken bones in his neck, face and jaw that required four steel plates inserted in his face and had his jaw wired shut.
Yojiu jitsu

Yoji Anjo was a Japanese pro wrestler who occasionally dabbled in MMA. Anjo wrestled for such promotions as New Japan, UWF and All Japan. In December of 1994, Anjo flew out to California with members of the Japanese press to challenge Brazilian jiu jitsu master Rickson Gracie to a real life fight. This came about after Gracie refused to compete in Japan against wrestler Nobuhiko Takada.

After invading Gracie’s dojo and challenging Rickson to a real fight….Rickson Gracie responded by saying, “If we fight for money, I’ll stop hitting you when you ask me to. If we fight for honor, I’ll stop hitting you when I feel like it.” That didn’t stop Anjo from challenging Gracie and try to expose him as a fraud. The end result was Gracie pummeling Yoji Anjo to a bloody pulp. The press cameras were not in the room when the fight occurred, but a member of the dojo did videotape the brief fight.

Unfortunately, it was never released to the public. Yoji Anjo returned to Japan embarrassed and ended up writing Gracie an apology letter.
Pure Havoc

Jimmy Havoc was accused by his ex girlfriend Rebecca Crow of both physical and mental abuse. According to Crow, Jimmy Havoc would often self mutilate himself in front of her when having an argument. He would also drive fast and recklessly with her in a car to scare her. Crow went on to say that Havoc threatened to kill himself during a death match tournament. Havoc has also had his battles with both alcohol and substance abuse.

Crow shared a story that while they were still in a relationship, Havoc raped another woman. The story came out that Havoc and the anonymous female went back to Havoc’s hotel room and started kissing. He then asked to put his penis inside of her…but she said no because she had her period. Havoc allegedly told her he didn’t care and penetrated her anyway. The woman said after the rape, she got herself tested for STD’s and HIV because she knew that Havoc was involved in bloody death matches. She ended up testing negative.

All Elite Wrestling that employed Havoc were made aware of all of these allegations and decided to send him for both alcohol and mental rehab. AEW would then revisit the situation and make a determination on his fate with the company. A few months later, Havoc was released from the promotion.
Heenan’s Heat

The late Bobby Heenan made no secret of his personal hatred for The Valiant Brothers (Jimmy, Johnny and Jerry) in his books and in interviews. He said that the Valiants couldn’t get over as heels without him as their manager. He also referred to them as cheap con artists and went as far as calling Jimmy Valiant “a pig.” Why all the hostility and bad feelings…hatred he took with him to his grave? There is an urban legend that Heenan witnessed Jimmy give his own son a tattoo on his forehead as a child.

That rumor has remained just that, with people saying it happened and others vehemently denying it. Heenan’s real animosity towards the Valiant Brothers goes back to when Bobby managed and traveled with them. Allegedly, the Valiants would walk out of restaurants without paying, mooch money from colleagues and fans alike and overall gave pro wrestlers a reputation. Heenan also had deep seeded hatred for Johnny Valiant which goes back to their days working in the WWF.

One story had Heenan and Johnny V agreeing to take a limo from the airport to WWF headquarters to do some work. Apparently, Valiant’s flight reached the airport first and instead of waiting for Heenan to get off his plane…took a cab and left Heenan to take the limo alone and pay for it himself. Heenan had bad feelings for Johnny after that incident and never spoke to him again.
