Brian Damage

This is the 296th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching interviews, newspapers, magazines and various other sources of media.

Beat Brian Blair

It was at a bar in West Virginia where all of the wrestlers were hanging out. Brian Blair was having a drink with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and bunch of other wrestlers. Matt Borne walked up to Blair and accused him of messing around with his (Borne’s) girlfriend. Brian Blair was confused, as he hadn’t talked to any women at the bar..so he told Borne that he didn’t hit on his woman. Borne didn’t believe Blair and sucker punched him in the back of his head.

The two wrestlers then went to the ground exchanging punches. Borne grabbed Blair by his ears and attempted to bite Blair’s nose…so Blair bit off Borne’s bottom lip. The fight seemingly ended at that point, as Borne was screaming in pain. The thing was a few minutes later, Borne attacked Blair again and the two continued with kicks and punches. The fight stopped and started about three times with Brian Blair getting the upper hand each time.

Ric Flair said it was the greatest fight he had ever witnessed. Both Borne and Blair were a bloody mess and fought for a combined 15 minutes.

Glow Job

In February of 2019, WWE star Naomi was driving the wrong way on a one way street in downtown Detroit. Police noticed it and pulled her vehicle over. When they approached her car, Naomi admitted that her husband…fellow WWE star Jimmy Uso was heavily intoxicated. After a few questions, Jimmy Uso allegedly became belligerent…exited the vehicle and took off his jacket and shirt. Police then claim that Uso got into a fighting stance and that is when one of the officers took out his taser gun.

Jimmy was able to calm down and was handcuffed and sent to jail. He was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction. His wife Naomi was not charged with any crime and was able to post bond for her husband and was released.

Just Pain

Chris Wilson aka Justice Pain, was a top independent wrestler from the mid 1990’s to the early 2000’s. He was a staple of the Philadelphia based Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) organization…winning the heavyweight title on five occasions. He also formed a tag team known as the ‘H8 Club’ with his brother….fellow wrestler Nick Gage. In January of 2020, it was reported by Dave Meltzer that Wilson committed suicide by jumping off the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia.

No word on why he ended his own life. Chris Wilson left behind a wife and two children. He was just 41 years old.

WashBurned

‘Gentleman’ Jack Washburn was trained as a catch as catch can grappler, but Washburn had a very short temper and preferred to brawl rather than wrestle in his matches. One particular evening in February of 1932 at the Boston Gardens…Washburn was wrestling an individual named Jack Smith. The two wrestled for over 45 minutes, when Washburn began arguing with the referee Bert Potts about his officiating.

Washburn grabbed Potts and threw him out of the ring…knocking the referee unconscious. The General Manager of the Boston Gardens called police and they arrested Washburn at the scene. Potts was rushed to a nearby hospital where it was revealed he suffered a fractured skull. Washburn was charged with assault and battery and jailed. His bail was set at $10,000…but got it reduced to just $500 and was freed.
