A great storyline in pro wrestling can really advance a wrestler’s career. It will engage fans, build wrestlers and help make a show “Must See TV.” Unfortunately, there have been storylines that for whatever reason are left unresolved and unanswered. These angles have left fans wondering what the heck happened? These are my top five unanswered storylines that are forever left in limbo.

Honorable Mentions: Diamond Dallas Page’s Mysterious BenefactorGTVThe Blonde Bytch Project, Who Killed Mr. McMahon?

Steve Austin Battles Mr. McMahon for Control of WWE

It was a ladder match at the King of the Ring pay per view in 1999, where a briefcase was dangled high above the ring. The person who retrieved the briefcase, would be named the CEO of the WWF. Stone Cold Steve Austin climbed the ladder with Mr. McMahon incapacitated and reached for the briefcase, when all of a sudden, the briefcase rose higher and out of Austin’s reach. Soon, Mr. McMahon was able to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase to maintain control over the company.

The part of this angle that was left unanswered was who lifted or ordered the brifcase to be lifted. It was never touched on after the event and left many fans wondering who and why?

The Dusty Rhodes Envelope

In 1988, Dusty Rhodes was held hostage mentally by a mysterious envelope which its contents were never revealed. Jim Crockett Promotions would ultimately be sold to Ted Turner and we never found out what was in that envelope. We covered the storyline in greater detail here.

Somebody “Still Remembers” Something Booker T Did or Didn’t Do

In 2003, Booker T was handed…you guessed it…an envelope. This time, the contents of the envelope were actually shown. It was a note that simply said, “I still remember.” The problem was, WWE creative dropped the storyline and we never found out who sent that note to Booker T and why?

Samoa Joe Gets Kidnapped in TNA

Samoa Joe was brutally attacked and kidnapped by being thrown in a white van one week by a group of thugs in 2010. Then without reason, the attack and kidnapping is never mentioned again with TNA acting as if what we saw never happened. Nobody mentioned it again and were left with more questions than answers.

The Mysterious Attacker in WCW

In 2001, WCW was on its last legs and their main storyline involved the forming of the Magnificent Seven faction. The heel group would suddenly find themselves under attack by a mysterious individual or group that were attacking each member of the faction. Before there was any resolution, WCW was sold to WWE and the angle was subsequently dropped.
